Most every day, some quirky aspect of some small corner of our colossal
world might strike you as just a bit twisted, just a little incongruous,
ridiculous or even blatantly humorous. However, most of us, most of the
time, let these tiny tickles of the cosmos pass right through us with little
more than a shrug of acknowledgement – and a momentary feeling of vague
uneasiness that someone really ought to say something to someone
regarding them.
Some years ago (many say after a blow to the head), I began to capture
these fireflies of fun before they burnt out. While they still glowed, I
would examine them under magnification and changing wavelength. I would
look at them from various angles, physical and metaphysical, logical and
lunatic. I would imagine them well-fed and so growing to their maximum
absurdity. And I would share these imaginings as essays of whimsy in a
periodical of modest size where I was otherwise employed.
Plopped on the SHULRGLFDO·Vpages irregularly at first, I received more
and more encouragement until these humor columns, done under the banner

even serious consideration for syndication.
But then my head injury must have healed, or my window into infinity

publication, and I got busy with other things.
