t’s Christmastime, my friends. And
that, as always, means mounds of
money passing from hand to hand like it was moving down the line of a demented bucket brigade.
But this year something new has been added. Now, paying your bills can earn you style points!
It’s true. The relentless takers of your money, and the warped-genius gimps they keep chained in their
basements, have infected the smartphone hipsters with a virus that takes their minds off the loss of
funds inherent in purchasing, and focuses their addled attention on the artful process of paying, itself.
And the virus is sure to go, well, viral. Paying with style, via the apps that promote it, is now a game like
Candy Crush, and you win when one-upping your techno-buds by paying in the hippest fashion.
I mean, in the beforedays, you paid a bill on time and you were considered to have met the
requirement. The only deductions were for paying late or not at all, and the only “extras” were that a
long history of paying bills on time generated points on your credit score … which allowed you to take
on even more bills and payments. There was no gain or loss in social status for the method of your
